Dreams-Makers Studio ("we", "us", "our") operates TaleForge (tale-forge.com), an AI-powered creative writing platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • OAuth profile data (name, email, avatar) if you sign in via Google or GitHub
  • Hashed password (for email/password accounts — we never store plaintext passwords)

AI API Keys

TaleForge uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model. You may provide your own API keys for third-party AI providers (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google). These keys are:

  • Encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption before storage
  • Never shared with any third party — keys are only used to make API calls on your behalf
  • Never logged in plaintext in our systems
  • Deletable at any time from your account settings

Content & Usage Data

  • Projects, chapters, characters, and other creative content you produce on the platform
  • Usage analytics (pages visited, features used, session duration)
  • Device and browser information for troubleshooting

2. Content Ownership

You own your content. All stories, characters, worldbuilding, and other creative works you produce on TaleForge remain your intellectual property. We do not claim any ownership over your content. We do not use your content to train AI models.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • To authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • To process payments via Stripe
  • To send transactional emails (verification, password reset, billing)
  • To respond to support requests
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Session cookies — essential for authentication and keeping you signed in
  • Analytics cookies — to understand how the Service is used and improve user experience (anonymized where possible)

5. Third-Party Services

We share limited data with the following third parties as necessary to operate the Service:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe receives your billing information directly. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Google OAuth / GitHub OAuth — authentication. We receive only your basic profile information (name, email, avatar).
  • AI Providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI) — when you use AI features, requests are sent to these providers using your own API keys. We do not share your account data with them.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive data (API keys), secure password hashing (bcrypt), and rate limiting. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Upon deletion:

  • Your account and profile information will be permanently removed
  • Your stored API keys will be deleted
  • Your creative content will be permanently deleted
  • Some anonymized analytics data may be retained for service improvement purposes

8. Your Rights (GDPR / EU Users)

If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Restrict or object to processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time

9. Children's Privacy

TaleForge is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
